Why we built the directory
Search results are excellent at showing what is nearby, but they rarely explain why a store matters. A list of names and ratings does not reveal whether a shop specializes in Japanese workwear, quiet European tailoring, technical outerwear, or emerging local designers. Stockist supplies that missing context.
Each listing brings together a concise description, neighborhood, representative brands, and a review status. The goal is practical: help a reader build a useful shortlist before spending time crossing a city.
What makes a store worth covering
We focus on multi-brand retailers with a recognizable point of view. That might come from unusually informed buying, long-term support for independent designers, deep expertise in a category, or a meaningful role in its local fashion community.
Stockist is selective, but not a ranking. Different stores serve different customers. A heritage denim specialist and an experimental fashion boutique can both deserve attention for entirely different reasons.
Independence and corrections
Editorial inclusion is not for sale. A commercial relationship does not guarantee a listing, favorable language, or a particular review status. When a store or reader identifies an error, we evaluate the evidence and update the directory when appropriate.
Retail changes quickly. Brands move between stockists, locations close, and concepts evolve. Our listings are research aids rather than live inventory records, so readers should contact a store before making a special trip for one product or label.
Who this is for
Stockist is for curious shoppers, travelers planning a retail itinerary, and anyone who wants to understand a city through its independent stores. It is also for retailers and readers willing to share accurate corrections that make the directory more useful for everyone.
Questions, corrections, and store suggestions can be sent through the contact form. For details on how information is selected and reviewed, read our editorial standards.
